Iced tea is the most common term used in referring to cold tea which could come from the refrigerator, or served in a glass with ice. Different flavors could be mixed in the preparation of this tea. Such flavors include lemon, orange, lime, apple, cherry, and raspberry. Furthermore, iced tea may either be sweetened or unsweetened. Today, this drink has become so popular worldwide.

In Austria, the most popular manufacturer of iced tea which is simply called ice tea is The Austrian “Raunch” Corporation. On the other hand, Belgium and Netherlands produce carbonated iced tea under Lipton. Canada prefers their iced tea with lemon, and in fact has produced bottled and canned products in various flavors. Others would also want to have their tea frozen.

In Asia, though it is not very conventional way of serving tea, iced tea has become popular in China with different bottled variations of this drink including green tea. Countries like Hongkong and Indonesia prefer their tea with lemon. This method of serving tea is already very common in restaurants where it is carefully prepared. Variations in the flavor added depend on the preference of the customer. It must be noted that the careful preparation of this drink include the brewing of the tea over a burner.

One of the most important markets of iced tea is Japan. In fact, this drink comes most commonly as bottled and canned, and dispersed in the many vending machines found in the country. Moreover, the Japanese style iced tea has penetrated the markets in Asia more than the Western-style tea drinks. In Taiwan, the preparation of this tea is quite different from the usual adding of fruit flavors, in the sense that the iced tea is sweetened with condensed milk and sugar, and is served with tapioca pearls.
